I experienced Lotte World on Christmas Day, super excited to indulge in all the Christmas spirit. Being an excited Christmas patron, I found Lotte World wasn’t the hype it was made out to be. Lotte World hails as the largest indoor amusement park in the world, but I dare say, that’s the only cool thing about it.
If you’re not a fan of children and large crowds, I suggest you stay away from Lotte World. The capacity is no where large enough to host all the amusement goers it attracts. Not that it’s a bad thing, but walkways in Asia are small. Koreans are thin and don’t take up much room. Thin people equals thin passageways. When it’s overcrowded, it’s even harder to get anywhere.
Usually foreigners get a discount, but over the holidays, there is no foreigner promotion discount unless you make an online reservation in Korean. If you have a Samsung, Hyundai, Citibank or Shinhan Bank, tickets are 15,000 won. I think even the 15,000 won is too expensive for the amount of time you’re waiting for attractions in the park. If you don’t, you’ll be paying 48,000 won. Totally not worth it. The food in the park is also too expensive and not good quality.
Long Waiting Time
For all large attractions anywhere, you have to wait, but we were waiting over two hours to get on some of the rides that don’t take long to complete. The rides were fun when we went on them, but I wonder if it’s because we had to wait so long to ride them.
If you have an iPhone, Lotte World doesn’t offer their Magic Pass app. Basically, this app allows you to make a reservation for the ride of your choosing using your entrance ticket. Only phones hosting the Google Store can access the Magic Pass App. The Korean brochure promises an app would be available in the Apple Store, but while we were there on the 25th, it was not available. Which sucked because there were so many people.
While you’re waiting an insane amount of time in the line, the wifi signal isn’t very strong. This could be due to the insane amount of people. Either way, you’re shit out of entertainment while you’re waiting in line. Bring a wifi egg or buy more data because it’s gonna be a long day.
Should you bother going to Lottworld?
My answer is no. Everland is MUCH better in terms of space and cost because it offers various discounts to foreigners and a bunch of fun zoo animals. Everland’s roller coaster is super amusing. Do you like enormous drops? I do!
Never go to Lotte World on any national holiday. It’s a total nightmare. There are too many people and it’s not worth the price you pay. I’d say the best part of Lotte World was the Folk Museum and posing next to the EXO cutout. EXO waits for no one, fools! 😛
Has anyone had a good experience or tips on how to enjoy LotteWorld better? I’d love to hear your comments and suggestions!
