To cafe or not to cafe? That is the question. When in Seoul, the answer is to always cafe. After all, you’ll never go to a cooler city with as many options.  Don’t be baaaaaa-shful when hanging around the Thanks Nature sheep cafe in Hongdae. 😉

This cafe has been super popular since the episode of We Got Married where Super Junior’s Leetuek and Korean actress Kang Sora went for a date. Also, Thanks Nature is the city’s very first sheep cafe. If I haven’t convinced you, then go ahead and take a sheep shot. See what I did there?

About the Sheep Cafe Experience

The sheep pen is separate from the cafe so you don’t have to worry about animal dander getting in your waffles, bingsu or drinks. Ordering a drink or dessert is mandatory so make sure you go straight to the counter first.

The cafe is divided into two portions: one being the inside and the other being the outside. The indoor section is very earthy toned with browns and greens adorning the interior. Compared to the outdoor part, the indoor cafe is very large and spacious. There are sheep, cow and airplane paintings along with sheep figurines adorning the random crevices.

When you get a chance to hang out with the sheep, Anna and Sam are absolutely sweet and will stay by you as long as you give hay. Sheep feel really fluffy and cottony to the touch and it’s a great experience to interact with the animals. The owner is really kind and the sheep absolutely adore him. Every time he calls their names they “baa” their approval. They’re groomed regularly and well taken care of. Anna and Sam seem very used to humans so they’re friendly and won’t bite.

If you visit the cafe, go during the autumn, winter or spring. If you’ve been to Korea during summer or you’ve survived a Korean summer, you’ll know that the weather is unbearable and super humid. For the well being of the sheep, they are sent back to a farm where they can live comfortably. Even if there are no sheep, I can definitely say a lot of the menu items are super refreshing and it’s worth a visit if you need a quiet place to dwell or work.
