Update: Due to the pandemic, Seoul Oppa is no longer operating.

Rejoice friends and travelers coming to Seoul! Have you ever wondered how to rent a handsome Seoul Oppa? If you want to rent a Korean oppa, there is no better time than now. Enter the Seoul After Seoul Company (formerly Seoul Oppa) for hiring your perfect Seoulmate.

In Korean culture, oppa means older brother. The word oppa is used by women when addressing an older male friend or brother. It’s usually a term of endearment and is actually a very cute word in my honest opinion.

Now don’t get me wrong, this isn’t some weird dating service, but hey, it never hurts to rent some knowledgeable eye candy to take you around. Am I right? Or am I right? And besides, as an Instagram junkie, why wouldn’t I jump at the chance to have a very kind and sweet Instagram husband for the day?

What is Seoul Oppa?

This is a specialized tour service where they will match you with your very own oppa who specializes in anything from music, art, history, fashion, cosmetics, architecture, and culture. This tour company has eight Seoulmates available.

Like I said before, each oppa has his own specialty and you can find out more about him, his interests, hobbies, and personality. The page will even tell you what languages he speaks (mostly Korean and English).

While all the oppas looked handsome and charming, I chose Doy as my Seoulmate after a good friend of mine recommended him saying he is an, “awesomely pretty human.” I also thought Doy seemed like a pretty cool guy from his profile and the cute little note he wrote.

Where to go on a Seoul Oppa tour?

Glad you asked! Each tour is about two and a half hours. Since Seoul Oppa is in its infancy, there aren’t many tours to choose from, but I’m sure once they grow, they will be offering many different kinds. Seoul Oppa currently lists eight different tours starting from $60. These tours include: Seokchon Lake Cherry Blossom Tour, SMTOWN & COEX Tour, Gyeongbokgung Tour, Garosugil Tour, LotteWorld and Mall Tour, Hongdae Tour, Bukchon Hanok Village Tour, and Han River Park Tour.

Now, I know what you’re thinking. What if I don’t like any of the tours listed here? Well, glad you asked. They actually have an option where you can customize a tour of your choice starting from $90. At the end of the tour, their photographer will meet up with you and give you a polaroid photo as a souvenir.

Ikseondong Hanok Village

Ikseondong Hanok Village is a hidden gem in Seoul. I’m kinda glad not a lot of people know about it because it holds a special place in my heart. But sharing is caring and ya’ll come here because you want to know unique and amazing places in Seoul.

This Hanok village is comprised of traditional Korean houses in small alleyways. Young entrepreneurs have breathed new life into the area by opening cute stores, cafes, and restaurants.

History of Ikseondong Hanok Village

During the early days of Japanese occupation, a plot of land was intended to be developed into a traditional Japanese Village. A nationalistic man with a heart full of love for his country decided to buy the land to stop that from happening. Instead, he commissioned modern hanoks to be built.

Today, many of the original structures still stand including the zinc gutters attached to the hanoks. It’s truly like stepping into the past. If you’ve ever watched Mr. Sunshine, then you may just squee with delight. And it’s also one of the most Instagrammable places I’ve ever been to in Seoul.

Sala Daeng Thai Food Restaurant

We stopped by one of the most beautiful cafes I have ever seen! The Summer Bangkok‘s decor is inspired by the beautiful culture of Thailand. If you’re into social media and bragging rights, then you definitely can’t miss this beautiful cafe.

I really appreciated how Doy took into consideration what I wanted from the tour (which was being super patient as I asked for an obnoxious amount of photos) and showed me around with confidence. He knew exactly when the cafe was opening and we planned our tour around going there first and the earliest so I could get the best photos. Conversing with him was super easy and I felt like we’d been friends for a long time.

Is it Gina Bear approved?

If you’ve ever pondered where to get a Korean oppa for rent, then Seoul After Seoul has got you covered. This tour was absolutely perfect and I would totally do it again. I had such a nice time and it’s such a great experience for female solo travelers. You can never go wrong when you rent an oppa for a day because you’re getting the perfect Instagram husband (insert Korean oppa emoji here for added emphasis). To top it off, you don’t have to worry about the freaks you pick up from Tinder because they won’t be going around with ulterior motives. So in short, yes, this is 100% Gina Bear approved.
