Today’s blog post on the best wineries in Dripping Springs Texas is brought to you by my good friend Keri from Lone Star Lass. We’ve been friends since our Japan days and I’m super stoked she has a blog now so we can do blog stuff together. 😉
If there’s anyone I trust with food and especially wine recommendations, it’s her. She’s lived in Austin for over a decade and knows the best places to go! So without further adieu, I proudly present this guest post on the best Austin day trip to Dripping Springs. May your wine tastings be epic and your day be filled with the best wines Texas has to offer!
If you’ve never visited the Texas Hill Country, prepare to be surprised – roll your window down, throw out all your misconceptions, and enjoy the drive. When they say everything’s bigger in Texas, you can feel it when you drive out here, winding roads, endless sky, ranches, and all kinds of nature.
I’m going to offer some of my suggestions and favorites, with some tips to make the most of your time – I hope you enjoy them as much as I do. A disclaimer here, I’m not accredited in the wine industry – I simply enjoy a glass of wine and learning about it along the way.
Why Should I Go To Dripping Springs?

Lone Star Lass’ Picks For Best Wineries in Dripping Springs
California Wines at Parmeson Wines or Graveyard Wines
For your first stop, I’d recommend Parmeson Wines or Graveyard Wines. These two are neighbors and both specialize in California wines.
Parmeson has a cute outdoor art garden, and Graveyard Vineyards has some quirky souvenirs (if you need a cute little coffin for your favorite wine bottle, you can buy one here).
You might be wondering why I’m recommending California wines in Texas, but I think it’s great to be able to try different styles of wine – especially if you’re new to wine tasting.

Wine, Beer, and Food at Bell Springs
For your second stop, Bell Springs has everything you could need – a winery, brewery, on-site food truck, and some relaxing grounds to stay a while. I like to stop here, especially when I’m with people who are new to wine as they have something for everyone (including beer). On the weekend, you may be able to catch some live music too.
They also offer private events and walk-in tasting experiences. The owners of Bell Springs Winery also own Sidecar Tasting Room. They have a prohibition-style wine bar right in the downtown Dripping Springs area. Book a private wine-tasting tour to Bell Springs here.

Fall Creek Vineyards
The beautiful grounds at Fall Creek Vineyards will quickly become one of your favorite places in Central Texas. When I first saw this beautiful winery, I was immediately reminded of the Spring Court from A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas.
The namesake for the winery is Fall Creek Falls which flows from underground springs along the creek and cascades into Lake Buchanan. Come try their fine wines and enjoy!

Planning Your Visit To Dripping Springs
Best Times to Visit
Timing is everything when it comes to wine tasting in Dripping Springs. The region boasts a year-round appeal, but the best times to visit are spring and fall when the weather is mild and the landscape is either blooming with wildflowers or painted with the rustic colors of autumn.
These seasons offer not only the most pleasant weather but also a calendar full of local wine festivals and events that enhance the wine tasting experience. Planning your visit during these times ensures you get the most out of the scenic drives, outdoor patios, and wine itself.
Tips and Tricks
Realistically, plan to spend between about 2 hours per winery. Check for opening times or special events that might impact your visit.
If there are just a couple of you, walk-ins usually aren’t a problem, but if you’re tasting with a group try to reach out in advance. Depending on the day and time of year, limited staff may be available to help (or answer the phone).
Most wineries offer a tasting package which usually starts around $25. These are great so you can try several of their wines, but if you’re in a hurry or know what you like, buy a glass instead.
Learning About Wine
If you want to learn more about wine, ask the people who work there. If time permits, they’re usually really happy to chat and tell you as much as you want to know.
I learn something new every time, whether it be about the difference between regions – California vs Texas for example – or different varietals. Try something new, you might just find your new (or first) favorite wine!
Accommodations and Dining
Dripping Springs offers a variety of accommodations, from cozy bed and breakfasts to luxurious Hill Country resorts. Places like Hill Country Casitas provide charming and comfortable lodging that complements the rustic charm of the area.
Tips for a Seamless Experience
To make the most of your wine-tasting trip, consider booking a formal tasting in advance, especially on weekends or during peak seasons when wineries may be busier. Many wineries also offer discounts on tasting fees or additional benefits with pre-booked reservations.
If you’re planning to visit several wineries, look into transportation options like local tour companies that can provide safe and convenient travel between locations. Additionally, check the winery policies on pets and picnics or plan to enjoy a meal amidst the vineyards. These small preparations can help ensure a smooth, enjoyable visit to Dripping Springs’ best wineries.
Pet-Friendly Options
Traveling with a furry companion? No worries—Dripping Springs is remarkably pet-friendly. Wineries like Bell Springs Winery not only welcome pets but also provide ample space for them to roam while you indulge in a glass of fine wine.
This inclusion means no one in the family misses out on the fun. Enjoying a sunny afternoon with a glass in hand, surrounded by vineyards and your four-legged friend by your side, embodies the relaxed and welcoming spirit of Dripping Springs’ wine culture.
How To Get Around Dripping Springs
Going by car is the best option, but obviously, that limits your drinking ability. Be responsible or bribe your bestie/significant other to drive you around and be the DD.
You can also book a private wine bus or limo – but you’ll need to plan in advance. Fetii or Uber/Lyft is also an option but can be extremely risky. Not many drivers will just happen to be in the area. If you use these options, I’d rent them for the whole day.
