So I’m going to get this out of the way because you know your girl is a HUGE fan of Trazy. They seriously have all the best trips and hookups when it comes to traveling around Korea. You like food? They’ve got you covered. Are you into beauty and skincare or seeing pretty gardens? Also covered. The tours are really well thought out and the operators are top notch. One of my favorite trips with Trazy Korea this year has been the one day Elysian Ski Resort and Spa.

About the Experience
You better get your beauty sleep because you will be in for an action packed and fun filled day. You have to get up before the butt crack of dawn, but believe me, this trip is so much fun. I was picked up by Dongdaemun Design Plaza at 7:40 am and then we were on our way north to get fitted with our ski pants and jackets. Elysian is the most popular ski resort with Seoulites because it’s only an hour and a half away. The first stop will be at the ski equipment rental shop. They carry sizes from children’s to 2XL so hopefully there is something there for everyone.
Once at the resort, we were given arm bands for novice ski lessons, and tags to use for the ski lift. I’m gonna be real as always and let you know I have big calves. When I buy knee high riding boots, I have to get the wide calf edition otherwise they won’t fit. Even when I was thinner I had this problem. Anyway, Elysian Resort carries boots for you wide calf individuals so no need to worry!
I’ve never skied before in my life. (I know, I know. I’m from Chicago and I’ve never been. Feel free to side eye and judge.) The beauty of youth is that you are more adaptable and excited about new experiences. I was lucky to have Sol lip, the best ski instructor ever. She was really kind when helping us out and took a lot of time to explain to us how to fall, stop, and slow down. When skiing you have to put your body weight forward but you most likely will not fall forward because of the way the boots and skis are designed. I’m a speed demon so I love to go down hills as quickly as I can. Skiing is actually super easy and I’m glad I learned. It’s not very difficult to pick up and I’m even in the mood to try some snowboarding in January. There’s a variety of slopes ranging from beginner to advanced.
As many of you know, I went vegetarian earlier this year. It’s been a great change because my body is functioning a lot better than it was when I was living in Japan (where I consumed more meat than I did in America). The Chuncheon area is famous for dakgalbi and while amazingly delicious it’s something I cannot eat. The tour guides were insanely nice, explained my situation to the restaurant owner and he made me kimchi mixed rice with no meat. I swear, people in Korea floor me every time with their unexpected kindness. Most restaurant owners in Seoul would probably tell me to go fly a kite.

It’s time to find out where the Kdrama fans are. Let me know in the comments if you watched While You Were Sleeping starring Lee Jong-suk. Near the Soyanggang Sky Walk is the filming location of Suzy’s house where her and her lover met in their dreams. #soromantic #whereismyoppa #findmeabflikenow Korean dramas are notorious for picking beautiful filming locations and I can see why with how beautifully the tiles there were arranged. Now about said photo. Was it cold? Yes? Was it worth sitting on the ground to look this bad ass? Yes. Moving on…
So how did we have time to ski, eat lunch, and see the drama location before sunset? It’s all thanks to our driver who got her license on the NASCAR track and made sure we were everywhere we needed to be when we had to be there. I’m telling you, ajhummas in Korea have untold powers. The bridge was incredible while it was lit by the setting sun and it made for the most Insta perfect moment.
Korea has been really cold this winter and we definitely needed hot packs and a super heated bus to stay warm. How to better relax tired muscles and cold hands than soaking in a bath? There’s nothing I enjoy more than taking a hot shower and soaking in a hot tub to get rid of all of the day’s stresses. After skiing at the Elysian Resort and going to the sky walk, Jade Healing Spa is very relaxing. One thing I should note is you should bring your own toiletries because they don’t provide them there.

Overall, this experience was hassle free because most days I can’t decide what to eat for breakfast. This tour takes the guess work out of ski and equipment rentals, instructors, navigation, food, and round trip transportation.
