The east side of Seoul is so underrated. While many people think of Lotte World, there’s so many other cool things to do in Jamsil Seoul. When I lived in Hanam City, I used to spend the majority of my weekends here.
Why should you listen to me above all the other content creators? I lived in South Korea almost six years and know how to travel Seoul like a local. Plus, I can recommend the best things to do in the Jamsil area. Here you’ll find my favorite restaurants, cafes, and activities. Located off the green subway line, it is super easy to access. In my experience, Songpa-gu residents are nicer and friendlier.

Check Out Olympic Park
Olympic Park in Seoul was built to host the 1988 Summer Olympics. I always recommend stopping here because it’s such a cool landmark. Olympians have walked under those arches and the Olympic flame still burns. Also every season brings something amazing and wonderful.
One Tree Hill
Located in Olympic Park, One Tree Hill is exactly what it sounds like. And no, it isn’t the popular early 2000s show featuring zaddy af Chad Michael Murray. It’s a lone tree on a hill that has been the filming location of various Korean dramas.
Olympic Park Rose Garden
The Olympic Park Rose Plaza is a gorgeous photo spot in Seoul. The garden features many different colored roses and a gorgeous art structure inspired by the Korean flag.
Jamsil Sports Complex
This is also known as the Seoul Sports Complex. Here you can watch a baseball game during summer in Seoul while you eat chimaek (chicken and beer).
Woori Art Hall
It is a concert hall where the Olympic Weightlifting Gymnasium was located. If you like art activities and small scale events, definitely check it out.
Bangi Food Street
The Bangimatol Food Alley in the Bangi-dong area has so many top restaurants it’s often called “gourmet street.” If you’re looking for a genuine K-culture experience go eat here. It starts across from KT Plaza next to Songpa-gu Office. It is divided into “Old Food Alley” and “New Food Alley.”
Jamsil Station
If you have a chance to do some shopping, I highly recommend checking out the underground shopping mall at Jamsil Station exit 8. The Etude House down there has darker foundation shades.
Sometimes I could find cute oversized t-shirts clothing. Be warned if you’re a woman above a US size 6 and wear a shoe size bigger than 8, you’re going to have a very hard time buying clothing.
Lotte World Tower
There’s a really cool convenience store operated by robots you can go to inside the highest tower. As you can see, Jamsil is home to the biggest Korean conglomerate. The Lotte Tower is based off the design of The Shard in London.
Seoul Sky Observatory
The Lotte World Tower is the fifth tallest building in the world and stands at 555 meters. It has the tallest observatory in Seoul. You can easily book your tickets to Seoul Sky here.
In addition, they just opened up an attraction where you can walk across the peaks at the top. What’s more is they are home to Bar 81 which has the largest champagne collection. Talk about bougie!
Signiel Seoul
The Signiel Seoul is definitely a gorgeous part of the Lotte Hotel world. One of my favorite things to do is go for their seasonal afternoon tea in The Lounge. For the best views of Seoul, book your stay at the Signiel Seoul Hotel here.
Lotte World Mall
Some of my favorite restaurants and stores are located in this mall. What I love most about the mall is that they have an H&M. I spent a lot of time in that mall so you’ll know exactly where to go shopping in Seoul.
Fancy Lotte Mall
One of the fanciest bathrooms in Seoul is in this department store. We’re talking marble countertops, mouthwash, and high-tech Japanese toilets.
Basement of the Lotte World Mall
This is where the entrance to Seoul Sky is. In addition, you’ll find stores like Sephora, Krispy Creme, and the cosmetics line of brands like Chanel, Yves St. Laurent, and Bobby Brown.
1st Floor Lotte World Mall
On this floor, you’ll find the MAC Cosmetics, Dear Dahlia, and H&M. The clothing stores will sell clothes up to a European size 42 or a US Juniors XL. You’ll also find a large shade range at MAC Cosmetics.
4th Floor Lotte World Mall
An Arc-N-Book opened in that mall. You’ll find a large selection of English books, plus a cool photo opp.
5th Floor Lotte World Mall
There’s a Brooklyn The Burger restaurant here as well as a cool machine with a robot that serves you coffee. On the fifth floor, you’ll also find a HiMart which sells a wide range of electronics. The hottest new cafe in Seoul, Knotted World is also located there.
6th Floor Lotte World Mall
There’s a Gatten Sushi which is a sushi chain from Japan. It’s the best sushi I’ve eaten in Seoul because it actually tastes authentic (Korean sushi is quite sweet). You’ll also find Sunset Avenue which is home to one of my favorite tea shops, Basilur.
In the picture below, you’ll also find the famous Lotte World Mall stairs. Every season is decorated beautifully. My favorite displays are usually for Autumn and Christmas.
Lotte World Amusement Park
Did you know that Lotte World is the largest indoor amusement park park in the world? They also have a small outdoor theme park called Lotte World Magic Island. You can get Lotte World discount tickets after 7pm and enjoy shorter wait times. Book your tickets to Lotte World here.
Lotte World Adventure
The outdoor portion has a section called Magic Island. Here many people enjoy using a Korean style school uniform which you rent at Ehwa Korean School Uniform Rental here.
Lotte World Aquarium
If you enjoy spending time under the sea you’ll love this aquarium. It’s home to the the world’s largest ocean ecology tank, 650 species, and 55,000 creatures. You can book your tickets to the Lotte World Aquarium here.
Seokchon Lake Park
As you can see, Seokchon Lake aka Songpa Naru Park is gorgeous in all seasons. There are lots of walking trails. It is divided into the East Seokchon Lake and West Lake. The east lake has cool art installations floating on top of it during summer.
DThrone Cafe
One of my favorite Seoul coffee shops is the DThrone Cafe. The little car I’m sitting in can actually be used by adults. My friends and I have had so much fun laughing and riding the car up and down the street there. Plus, if you really love the little car, you can purchase it. DThrone cafe also has great lunch specials.
Seoulism
Seoulism is one of my favorite cafes in Seoul for the stunning views of the Lotte World Tower. They like to decorate with every season so be sure to check it out. The drinks at Seoulism are quite expensive, but they’re tasty and you’re paying for the atmosphere and the awesome views.
