If your favorite colors are pink and purple and you dig flowers, here’s an event you NEED to check out. Spring is undoubtedly one of the best seasons in Korea and with good reason. The ROK brings it hard every year with festivals and great excuses to get dressed up to take the perfect selfies. (You know you want to.) Since spring is so short, we need to chase the flowers and chase them quickly. If you’re tired of Seoul, (or you just want an excuse to go somewhere) look no further and check out the Gunpo Royal Azalea Festival.
April 29: there will be a parade at 신민체육광장 and there will also be some singers in attendance.
April 30: Traditional Korean concert.
May 1-3: Song festival, concert and closing ceremony.
When: April 29-May 5
Where: Azalea Hill, Gunpo Station Market, Yanngi Park
Do you think you’d make the trek out to this satelite city with your friends or sweetie? There’s nothing as breathtaking as seeing an entire side of the hill completely covered in pink and purple. I don’t know about you, but I’ve never seen anything like this. If you go, let me know how your experience was!
How to get there: Take Line 4 to Sanbon station. Walk out of the station to the main square. You’ll see loads of azaleas around the square and fountain. Walk toward the end of the square and take a left. Walk down for about 10 minutes, cross the street and make another left at (intersection).
Take Line 4 to Surisan Station. Walk out Exit 3. Walk for about 5-7 minutes and you’ll see it on your left.
Address: Gyeonggi do, Gunpo city, Sanbon dong 1152-10
