What is Trazy?

Well, let me tell ya what this stands for—Trazy=Travel+Crazy. In Korea, a lot of travel/product/service information is unavailable in English. I can personally vouch for the desire of going where the wind takes me only to be halted by language barriers. South Korea is an incredibly fun country with a lot to offer. Trazy was founded by Kristine and Jessie who realized the need for up to date travel information and communication efficiency. Thus, the company is dedicated to travel crazy people with the goal of discovering things to do and booking tours at a discounted price.

The Experience

Upon entering the spa, you’ll slip off your shoes and put on slippers, then be guided up the stairs to a waiting room with snacks and tea. You’re asked to answer a questionnaire detailing basic information, skin type, problem areas, finishing cream and massage pressure. My problems have always been with acne, and Whoo Spa prides itself on personalized and specialized skin care for their clients. A consultant is available to speak English, Korean, Japanese, and Chinese. Since they get many foreign visitors, they are happy to accommodate.

There are three different rooms at Whoo Spa—VIP, Special and Refresh room. You’ll enter your specific room and are asked to remove everything except your panties. When the masseuse and attendant return, your skin is cleaned and the massage ensues. I asked for a medium pressure massage, but I should have done a hard one because after going through the Tourtainer competition, I had some legit kinks in my back. Without knowing what my problem areas beforehand were, the masseuse was able to pin point where the tightest knots were, and man, did it feel absolutely wonderful to deflate my tight muscles.

After the massage sent by heaven, you will get an air pressure massage on your legs. They will slip on these thigh high boots and air will inflate and deflate while your facial proceeds. My favorite part of the facial was the oxygen detoxifying mask and let me tell you, after being exposed to pollution, humidity, and extra sebum that mask was popping. (All puns intended.)

I absolutely loved the mask pack at the end. Your face is covered with soft cotton and the cool mask is applied. It feels heavenly since the room is so comfortably warm and the only thing uncovered are your nostrils and mouth. Since my skin is so acne prone, I needed extra products to help heal and quell everything on my jawline. This part is so relaxing and within 5 minutes you’ll be dead asleep after being pampered like a goddess.

The verdict? If you’re in Seoul and looking to splurge, I cannot recommend this place enough. Seriously, all I want to do is rave about the service at Whoo Spa because it reminds me of all the best customer service experiences I had in Japan. From the moment you get in, you’re treated warmly and like family. The staff care about your needs and will check up on you from time to time to make sure everything is perfect. The facilities are super clean and the chandeliers, marble-like tile floors, comfy chairs and relaxing atmosphere give it that luxurious feeling.

At the end, you will be given deliciously sweet plum tea, a walnut pastry and a face mask to put on 2-3 days after the facial for optimal results. Everything about this place is rejuvenating and refreshing. You’ll be like, “Why didn’t I discover this place like… Yesterday?!”

The Upgrade

We all have our faults in life. No one is as perfect as they seem on Instagram, but we can all definitely try to fake it a little! What’s my biggest imperfection, you may ask? I actually don’t have really great skin. (Thanks, dad!) I suffer from hormonal acne, oily skin, and I’m particularly acne prone on my jawline during humid Korean summers and that special time of the month. Lucky me! NOT. Anyway, I had the option of upgrading to the aqua peel and I jumped on it because why not get a deep clean and the VIP room for an extra 60,000 won? After the facial ampoule, the Aqua Splus machine was brought out to vacuum and shoot water into my pores. Some say it hurts, but I had to bite back some giggles because it actually tickled.

The Result

Holy cow, now I see how famous people glow so brightly. They probably get facials every month and that’s why their natural skin is so blindingly beautiful. I usually don’t feel as confident without some BB Cream or light makeup on, but my skin was GLOWING. I’m talking radiant like when I was 18 brilliant. No makeup needed and #nofilter perfect kind of selfie. Even after a week, my skin was still clean, soft and radiant.
