Since cat cafes are super popular everywhere, but what about the dog lovers? As a dog owner and admirer of our furry canine friends, I’d pick a dog cafe over a cat cafe any day! If you feel like spending a rainy day or any afternoon at an animal cafe, you’ll love the Sang Sang Puppy Cafe.

About the Cafe Experience

When you enter the cafe, you’re greeted by very cute pink decor. The cafe is divided into three sections. The big play area is where the owner’s dogs usually dwell. On the adjacent walls, you’ll see a variety of dog treats, clothes, food, and just about everything you could ever want for your furry friend! I know you’re wondering—are the dogs in there puppies? The answer is no. They’re small to medium size dogs, but may as well be puppies because they’re so cute! The cafe atmosphere is clean and the animals are well taken care of.

Fun Fact: You can bring your own fur baby for a day out to play with the other dogs. When you enter the cafe, you’ll be asked to go into the meeting room where you and your pet will be introduced and get comfortable with the other dogs.

A lot of the dogs in there are friendly and sociable so expect a loud welcome when you enter. At the door, you’ll take off your shoes and wear a pair of slippers provided to you. This is done for the safety of the dogs because let’s be real, the bottom of our shoes are pretty gross!

Recommendations

I’ve been to Sang Sang Puppy Cafe a couple of times and I’ve had a great experience each time. Be careful with your drinks because dogs are well, dogs. They love food and anything that isn’t in their regular diet is a rare treat. Keep your drink on the table and never leave it on the floor. The owner is pretty good about shooing them off if they try to catch a lick, but just be warned. If you need more info about the cafe, check out the official Naver site (Korean only).

The cafe gets busy around the late afternoon or evening so if you want these critters all over you and giving you their undivided attention, then I suggest going when the cafe opens as they’re usually very excited to see visitors and will happily fall asleep in your lap.

Cost

For the cafe, it costs about 4,000 won for a drink and 5,000 won for the entrance fee. They provide coffee, tea, and lemonade. Personally, the lemonade is my favorite or any of the ades. In Korea, they go the extra step with and add sparkling water so it’s extra refreshing. For a grand total of 8,000 won you can stay and play with the dogs for as long as you like. Now that’s what I call a good time!

How to Get There

From Hongik University Station, walk out exit 9. Google Maps usually don’t work, but I’ve found if you type in Sang Sang Puppy Cafe, then Google maps can find it and you’ll know exactly where it is! You’ll also see a big banner that has the cafe name in front of the building.

Address: Sang Sang Puppy Cafe, 364-3 Seogyo-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul

The cafe also provides dog school and a pet hotel. First, your pet will be tested to see if it can get along with the other dogs in the cafe environment. If it does, then it’s welcome to stay for the schooling and pet hotel. Just a note that minors are only allowed to stay for two hours.
