If you guys couldn’t tell from all my #Blogtober posts, I’m kind of obsessed with autumn. It’s a time I really come alive and feel super creative. It’s also a great opportunity to enjoy the changing of the seasons and the holiday joy I make while living so far away from home. This blog post is dedicated to all my favorite Korea fall essentials. These are the things I look forward to or use every autumn in Korea.
If you’re moving to Korea and don’t know what to expect these Korea autumn essentials will also make your life that much more easier and help keep you warm. You may be thinking, “I come from a cold climate! This is a piece of cake.” Wrong, my friends. I come from Chicago where it has been historically recorded to get colder than the North Pole and I STILL get super cold here. I believe it’s because of the way the buildings are built, the push towards energy conservation, and the high electrical bill prices that make us have to deal with the cold the way we do.
Whether you’re a seasoned veteran or spending a prolonged amount of time in Korea, I hope these Korea fall essentials will help make your life easy and brighten your day.

The Daiso Collection
Every year, Daiso releases the absolute BEST collections for every season. They usually pick a theme to center around. Last year, it was cute sloths, and this year it is animals in the forest. Last year, I bought a lot of their autumn leaf and Halloween decor as well. It was worth every penny! You can see more of their collection here.
Flying Tiger Copenhagen Collection
Flying Tiger Copenhagen really brings it when it comes to Halloween as well. They always have really unique products that don’t cost a fortune. Whenever their Halloween collection comes out, I always buy a unique piece or two. Last year, I bought their light up jack-o-lanters and I used it for photos. They even have DIY Dia de los Muertos skulls you can decorate yourself!
The Starbucks Collection
Starbucks Korea seriously has got it down for the changing of the seasons and any holidays around the corner. I simply love their collector’s items and their seasonal drinks. Last year, we got the sweet pumpkin latte which if you add a bit of cinnamon, will make a PSL. This year, they even have a super adorable makeup line to go with their Halloween collection.
Heating Pad
Since I have a lot of back pain, this heating pad is actually good for relaxing my muscles. In addition, when the days grow shorter and the nights grow longer, I must always have my heating pad to keep me warm. This nifty contraption helps save money on the heating bill in the winter. In Korea, the heater comes from the ondol which is located in the floor. Usually, I turn it on for a couple hours after I come home from work, and then I turn it off. This keeps my apartment toasty and when it gets cooler in the later hours of the night, I have my heating pad.
Chair Heating Pad
Fun fact, Korea doesn’t have central heating. This makes the schools super cold (plus the building insulation for the walls and windows is also abysmal). During winter, I usually just wear layers plus my winter jacket over that despite the heat running. It just never feels warm inside a Korean school. To combat this, I usually have my chair heating pad which helps take the edge off. My chair heating pad was the only thing that saved me from freezing all winter long while I desk warmed in my office.
Heated Slippers
This is another staple you need to have if you’re an English teacher in Korea or working an office job where you never feel warm. If your feet are cold, usually the rest of your body follows and it’s hard to warm up after that. These heated slippers plug right into the USB port of your laptop and keep you nice and toasty for hours.
Scarf
I have at least three or four fuzzy and oversized scarves for the occasion. I keep my cheetah print scarf at my desk in school and the rest hanging on pegs in my house to use with my outfits. Korea usually has pretty cute accessories, but for the most part, I usually buy most of my adorable accessories off of Shein.
Wool Hat
When you keep your head warm, your body will also stay warm too. I pair so many of my outfits with my tan wool hat or my black wool hat.
Hand Warmers
These are actually a super brilliant invention I discovered while in Japan, and have enjoyed them while over in Korea has well. Handwarmers are great for keeping in your pockets when you need to keep your hands warm. They also have a variety for your feet to wear inside your shoe too.
Air Pollution Face Mask
Not only are masks essential because of the world situation, but also because of the air pollution in Korea. What people don’t tell you is after rainy season, the air quality gets progressively worse and worse. A giant cloud of smog sets in late autumn and stays hovering above the peninsula until its replaced with yellow dust in spring. I like using these face masks and you can shop these trendy masks down below.
Totoro Lap Blanket
Sometimes it just isn’t enough to have your behind and toes toasty. I feel like having a warm and fuzzy blanket on your lap helps keep you snug when the wear is cold af. I use this Totoro lap blanket and pillow. This is also wonderful for when I’m super tired at work and need to take a snooze at my desk. Or when I’m desk warming and need a nap.
What essentials do you use in autumn in Korea? Which ones are your favorite or will be trying? I personally cannot live without the awesome Halloween collection at Starbucks Korea! 🙂
