If you’re visiting South Korea, check out the amazing Thanks Nature Sheep Cafe in Seoul. Koreans are absolutely obsessed with coffee, and love to invent new ways to make the experience exciting.
But why have a regular cup of coffee when you can spice it up by turning your establishment into a raccoon cafe, owl cafe, or cat cafe?
Don’t be baaaaaa-shful when hanging around the Thanks Nature Sheep Café in Hongdae. 😉 Animal cafes are super popular in Korea, from cat cafés to dog cafés.
This cafe has been super popular since the episode of We Got Married, in which Super Junior Leeteuk and Korean actress Kang Sora went on a date. Also, Thanks Nature is the city’s very first sheep cafe. If I haven’t convinced you, then go ahead and take a sheep shot. See what I did there?
About The Thanks Nature Café Experience
A wooden fence surrounds the sheep pen and is separate from the cafe. They even have a little house in their outdoor area, which is super cute!
Don’t worry about animal dander getting on your delicious waffles, bingsu (ice cream), or drinks because you can eat inside. However, ordering a drink or dessert is mandatory, so make sure you go straight to the counter first.
The interior of the cafe is earth-toned, with browns and greens. There are sheep, cow, and airplane paintings and sheep figurines adorning the random crevices.
Interacting With The Sheep at Thanks Nature Sheep Cafe
These fluffy sheep are sweet and will stay by you if you give them hay. The owner is really kind, and the sheep adore him.
Every time he calls their names, they “baa” their approval. They’re groomed regularly and well taken care of.
If you visit the cafe, go during the autumn, winter or spring. For the well-being of the sheep, during summer, they are sent back to a farm where they can live comfortably.
Even if there are no sheep, many of the menu items are refreshing. It’s worth visiting if you need a quiet place to work or study.
This is a great place to bring kids and friends. After getting a drink, you can stay as long as you like and take all the selfies.
The next time you’re in Hongdae, Thanks Nature Cafe is a great place to flock when you have a little bit of time on a rainy afternoon.
Cost
During a Korean summer, you can never go wrong with a lemonade or watermelon smoothie, so when in doubt, it’s always the best option. Depending on what you order at the coffee shop, you’ll spend anywhere between 6,000 to 15,000 won.
How to Get There
The sheep cafe is located at the first intersection of Hongik University’s main gate.
When coming from the train, walk out of Hongik University Station Exit 9. Walk straight until you get to the cross junction and turn left. Walk up the street for 5 to 10 minutes. It’s located on the basement level.
