If you want the most bang for your buck, I can’t recommend afternoon tea at Grand Hyatt Tokyo enough. Winter is all about strawberries and ruby chocolate. Writing about this heavenly high tea buffet in Tokyo is seriously making my mouth water and want to go back for round two.

If your favorite countries are Japan and France and your favorite color is pink, you’re going to absolutely adore The French Kitchen. (And even if it isn’t, you can’t miss out on an afternoon gab session with your girlies here.)

If you’re looking for an afternoon tea buffet in Tokyo, the Grand Hyatt Tokyo will have all you need. While there may not be row upon row of desserts and treats (like some peacock buffets out there where stuff isn’t all that fab), the quality and prime ingredients will be satisfyingly appetizing. Luxury means quality over quantity.

The Menu

Did you know winter in Japan means strawberry season? Have you ever been told how darn good the strawberries are in Japan? Well, I’m telling you these wonderful red berries are nothing like the berries I’ve experienced back home in America.

In Japan, they’re sweet, juicy and legitimately the perfect texture. You’ll never want to eat candy again after eating a strawberry in Japan. Grand Hyatt Afternoon Tea in Tokyo is kinda awesome because of the large selection of delicious sweets. Can you say strawberry heaven at this afternoon tea buffet in Tokyo?

Just a disclaimerstrawberry season is only in winter but you can get other tasty desserts and savory delights all year long. For the Grand Hyatt afternoon tea Tokyo menu click here, so you can keep up to date on the different tea sets. The strawberry afternoon tea will be available until March 15th.

If we’re talking afternoon tea at the Grand Hyatt Tokyo you know that you’re going to get the best locally sourced and fresh ingredients. Luxury eating is incredibly important when you’re traveling.

If you’re vegetarian or pescatarian, you’ll definitely enjoy this buffet since there’s lots of non meat options. I know sometimes when I go for high tea, everything is usually very delicious; however, there’s always one or two treats I find sinfully scrumptious. With the French Kitchen’s monthly afternoon tea buffet, you can keep going back for your favorite desserts or savory sides.

I have such a sweet tooth and one of my favorite desserts of all time are macaroons. Like, I just can’t get enough of them. I have a bottomless pit for sweets, but macaroons are the apple of my eye.

At the French Kitchen at the Grand Hyatt, you’ll also exclusively be treated to a ruby chocolate fountain. Did you know ruby chocolate is made from a ruby cocoa bean that is actually red? It was unveiled by a Belgian Swiss cocoa company and is kind of a big deal. It has a tart yet sweet taste. If you’re like me, then you’re going to fall in love with it as that is my favorite combination.

Just so you know, some of the sweet treats included:

  • Crémet d’Anjou
  • Paris-brest fraise
  • Charlotte fraise brulee
  • Strawberry tart
  • Strawberry tiramisu
  • Strawberry macaron
  • Strawberry marshmallows
  • Strawberry pound cake
  • Strawberry mousse
  • Ruby chocolate fountain

If your mouth isn’t watering yet, how about the savory dishes to entice you? At the Grand Hyatt buffet, you’ll get:

  • Semi-dried tomatoes, spinach quiche
  • Smoked salmon, beets, dill cream, blinis
  • Tuna and kohlrabi remoulade tortilla wrap
  • Cucumber cream cheese sandwiches
  • Roast beef, radish, sprouts, rye bread, horseradish cream

The smoked salmon is to DIE FOR and it’s smoked in house for premium quality and taste. Have you died and gone to culinary heaven yet?

Obviously, you can’t have afternoon snacks without tea and the Grand Hyatt features premium organic tea from Los Angeles based, “Art of Tea.” I really recommend the strawberry creme tea and the apricot escape tea when you go.

Afternoon Tea Attire

You know me and I absolutely LOVE to look up where I’m going so I can match the aesthetics of the place and to my Instagram feed.

I wore a warm sweater that was meant for Christmas, but it was super cute with the “Merry Kissmass” and deer on it okay? I also wore a red beret because I feel like that’s super French and French Kitchen. Can you dig it?

The Atmosphere

This is definitely a place both children and adults can enjoy. I literally had an unforgettable afternoon tea experience. It was a very relaxing setting next to the windows where you could see outside into the garden. The decor of most of the restaurant was in the French style with peony chairs.
