Many people are under the impression that Korean skin care, beauty, services are only fit for the Asian market. They’re not. I’m a Latina female and I do have darker pigmented skin and the laser has been working great for me. There’s that myth debunked in the form of yours truly. Many clinics here in Korea are high tech, clean, and offer reasonable prices for their services as compared to America’s market. If you’re looking for cheap and efficient underarm laser hair removal in Seoul, then you need to go to Abijou Clinic. They have several locations around the city and I went to the one in the Jamsil area near Jamsilsaenae Station.
As a human female, I am no stranger to wanting to feel and look beautiful. Some days we can feel fantastic in our own skin and other days we want to change or tweak our natural beauty. Korea really is the best when helping us become a better and more lovely version of ourselves.

My Experience
I started doing this in November 2016 (and I’ll be honest, I’ve missed some appointments). Even though I haven’t been timely, the hair is growing back less frequently. Where I used to have four hairs growing from one follicle, I now only have two or barely anything growing back. My underarm hair grows super slowly and I also used to have really dark underarms. As I’ve gone through the treatments, the skin has become lighter. My shaves last longer and I don’t worry about forgetting to shave and displaying embarrassing hairy pits to world as I wear my cute summer tank tops. (YOLO ladies. I wear what I want when I want in Korea.)
Unfortunately, the staff speak minimal English so go with a Korean friend or text their Kakao to make an appointment. I speak Japanese and there is a staff member who is bilingual so I didn’t have any problems.
Since the clinic I attend is in Gangnam, the interior is stunning because Gangnam. There’s a dimly lit chandelier in the middle of the space. Everything is pristine and clean with lovely lounge chairs all around. There is even a mini nail salon where you can get a manicure if you wish. In addition, several meeting rooms line the left and right sides of the clinic.
When you arrive, you’ll be asked to change in the powder room and wear a tank top if you’re not wearing one. You’ll then be lead to the back room and asked to put on protective goggles. The machine has a cooling airflow so once you get hit with the laser, the air immediately alleviates any discomfort. If you’ve straightened your hair, you’ll recognize the burning hair scent. As you’re getting treated by the laser, there’s barely any pain. I would describe the sensation as the after sting of a rubber band.
Once the treatment is finished, an assistant will put a special cream in your armpits to aid with healing. You’re not allowed to shower for 24 hours after or wear deodorant for 2-3 days after. Don’t go to a sauna or strenuous exercise as that could irritate the skin. Even though your armpits may feel itchy, don’t scratch them at all. I recommend starting laser hair removal treatments late fall and going through the winter so you don’t sweat so much and are not so stinky when you can’t shower or wear deodorant.

Cost
The price for five sessions of underarm hair removal is about 25,000 won. If you want to put ten sessions (I highly recommend this) then you can purchase it for 50,000 won. I think this is great if you have darker skin and if you ever see pesky hairs growing back in you can always use a touch up.

Was this permanent? I went for one last year in Busan for a year, and since stopping it’s gone back to normal 🙁
Did you just do one treatment or a series? You should ideally be going back every 6 weeks because of the hair growth cycle. I’ve gone for 6 treatments so far (I’ve missed a few in between) and I noticed the hair is growing back slowly or not at all.
A series, I did about 9/10 times in one year. Worked great in that year but now that I’ve stopped it’s gone back to normal :/
Oh no… That’s the worst. 🙁 I know hair grows back for different reasons, but one of the most common is because of hormonal changes. It could also be the type of laser they used.
I am curious about the price because you said the cost was 50,000 for 10 sessions but was this price recent to the post as of October 2017 or was the price for last year November 2016, when you started doing laser hair removal?
The price should still be the same. The prices stay stagnant because there’s a lot of clinics that do this and they want to stay competitive.
Thank you so much for sharing!
I’m still thinking about doing that when I move back to Seoul next year.
Will def. keep this clinic in mind! 🙂

I’m right in the middle of doing this! Feels so glamorous to be doing all these beauty things but it’s just so much more affordable out here. 😀 I’d love to do my legs but I have tattoos.
I’m hoping to find more non-invasive beauty things I can get done out here. I’m not the most glamorous of folk but Korea definitely tempts you in to it, haha.
Hi, I’m living in jamsil, I couldn’t find the website of wynn clinic. I need some details like phone number and address. Could you please send me the details. Thank you in advance
